Scaling Wellness Across Five Platforms

Summary

I led the design of Grokker's core wellness experiences across mobile, desktop, wearable, and TV, shaping an ecosystem that met people where they were and supported healthy habits in the moments that mattered most.

The work spanned UX strategy, feature design, accessibility, and cross-platform systems, with each product surface tuned to a different context instead of repeating the same experience everywhere.

Overview

Role: Lead Product Designer and Accessibility Expert

Grokker needed a more cohesive wellness experience across devices, with stronger long-term engagement, better accessibility, and a clearer sense of what each platform should uniquely do well.

I designed for users across mobile, web, wearable, and TV clients, helping increase daily engagement, improve cross-platform continuity, and strengthen the product through more inclusive, context-aware UX.

Challenge

The challenge was not simply bringing Grokker to more platforms. It was deciding what each platform should do best, while still feeling like one coherent product.

  • Create a cohesive wellness experience across platforms without duplicating features or diluting value.
  • Define which touchpoints actually drove meaningful engagement.
  • Adapt incentives, reminders, and content discovery to each device context.
  • Support rapid experimentation and client customization on the web.

Mobile

On mobile, I focused on community engagement, content discovery, and lightweight motivation. The product needed to feel lively, browsable, and easy to use one-handed.

Social feed patterns, challenge progress, video discovery, and lightweight sharing all worked together to make mobile feel active and rewarding in short sessions.

Feed Post Types

I used a modular card system with shared content slots so the feed stayed scannable while still supporting many kinds of motivation, progress, and social interaction.

watchOS

On the watch, I focused on reminders, streaks, and calendar-aware nudges. The experience had to work in seconds, with minimal taps and a strong sense of glanceability.

Wrist-based micro-interactions turned reminders, workouts, and check-ins into fast, encouraging moments.

TV

On TV, I designed for lean-back browsing and habit formation. Discovery, autoplay, and recommendations helped turn wellness sessions into routines on a bigger screen.

TV UI with instructors

The Apple TV experience emphasized atmosphere, ease, and deeper sessions, where wellness felt more immersive and routine.

Roku browsing patterns made content discovery feel calm, intentional, and easy to navigate with a remote.

Outcomes

  • Scaled a consistent design system across five platforms.
  • Increased daily engagement with tailored nudges, including strong growth in watchOS reminder opt-ins.
  • Improved multi-device usage through more intentional ecosystem design.
  • Enabled large-scale client customization through flexible, admin-friendly web tools that supported renewals and longer-term contracts.
